How naive I was. Things can change in an instant. I look back at the Subdirectory I did last May, and I realize the person I was six months ago is very little like the person I am now. Everything in my life has shifted. It's not pleasant, let me tell you. Let's see, where to begin...

First of all, my family's in the middle of a separation. After Mom found out Dad was having an affair and that he put alcohol before the rest of the family, Mom kicked him out, and now I'm not exactly sure where he is. Crashing on the couch of one of his few remaining friends, most likely. Somehow, Mom still supports us on the pay of a part-time postal worker. Which brings me to...
I'm no longer a student at Luther College. It was a wonderful experience to go there for a year, and I made lots of friends, many of whom I miss greatly, but, class-wise, I wasn't happy. I realized my destiny as a computer programmer - to spend all of my time in a cubicle, crunching code. And it looked like hell. I struggled under this realization, and also, we didn't have nearly enough money to send me back there. So now I'm a student at Iowa Central Community College, majoring in Broadcasting, a field I fell in love with at KWLC 1240 AM, Luther's campus radio station. Some of my best memories were at KWLC, and I thought I was having so much of a good time that I'm making a career out of it.
And most of my friends at home have gone off to college. They were all a year younger than me, and they finally made the big move. It's especially hard having my closest friend - Alicia - be the furthest one away - she's a student at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. But we talk all of the time. And I almost feel like I'm living the new school experience all over again through her. I felt really bad for her after the first week or so, when she wasn't quite settled in yet, and was having a small bout of depression. But I told her that I went through that too, that it'd be a while before everything was perfect. And she cheered up, and now she hardly ever has time for me, so it sorta backfired... :P I miss her - and all of my friends - like crazy.

Well, gotta be moving on. I'm still the positive, "annoyingly perky" person I've always been, just had a little turbulence a while back. But I appreciate you all for letting me vent here. Thanks. This is Chris Tasler, logging out.
